The Cherokee Reunion 2008 is now in the History
books and won't be long and we will be getting ready for the Turley
Cherokee Reunion 2012 to take place.
We had a good turn our
at the 2008 reunion with approximately 450 in attendance. We
had more walk-in than expected. Everyone had a good time and
met not only old friends but met new friends. The severe thunderstorms
that rolled in Saturday morning that struck the school didn't
even hamper the good time all had. We got some old photos we
will putting them on the website under Reunion 2008 and Memory Lane
in the near future. Jody Tell, The Cherokee Principal was there
to greet everyone and she is an exceptional person. I wish I
had a principal like her when I was in school there. She and
her group were selling Cherokee year books. Everyone loved the
Museum set up inside the school and the memorial of the old red brick
building outdoors.
We want to thank all of our Sponsors who
help put this reunion over. There was K-Mart Inc, Zebco Inc,
What-A-Burger Inc, QuickTrip Inc, Wayne Pauley donated $100.00 for
the one who traveled the longest distance and Karl Kinney also
donated $100.00 for the oldest person to attend, Joanne Groenewold
donated a painting she painted called the "ROSE", Bob Cooper, Sr donated
a covered wagon he made, Ron Robinson donated flowers for every table
and told everyone to take them home and let us meet at his Third Place
for our meetings, Russel Jones donated a lot of his invention (the
ant terminator) used with Hummingbird feeders. I know I'm leaving
someone out so email me and remind me.

Sr. took some of the old bricks from the Red brick building that was
torn down, and clean, painted and put a logo on them and sold a few
at the Reunion. All the proceeds will go into a special fund
for the Memorial. We still have a few for the next reunion if
you did not get one or you can get one at the Third Place in Turley,
OK.
We had our final meeting for Reunion 2008 on
June 14th at the 3rd Place in Turley, OK at 10:00 AM.
We discuss the books and nominated new officers for the 2012 Reunion
coming up and donate money to special needs.
We ask everyone to keep
in touch and email us when you can. When you move let us know
where you have moved to. If nothing else, email us and just
say Hi. Also we will be loading up the website with lots of
photos and stuff from Reunion 2008, so keep watching.
