August 13. 2011
As of this meeting, it is not looking too good for
our next Reunion. Bids went out for the 14 schools that were
closed, including Cherokee School. Next month they could open
up the bids for a 2nd round of Bids. It is starting to get too
late to plan this Reunion for May of 2012. We may have to postpone
this reunion by another year. We should know more when we have
our September meeting.

JUNE
8, 2011
On June 7, 2011, A for Sale sign went up on 9 of the 14 schools
that were closed. Cherokee was one of those schools. My
understanding is that it has to set there for 1 year before any sale
takes place in case they decide to re-open the school. We are
still planning for our Reunion to take place at the school on Saturday,
May 19, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the Cherokee auditorium.
There is an 80 percent chance that we can use the school. I
don't like the 20 percent chance that is left.
Also, several photos
inside the old red brick building have been added to the website.
Also several photos of the construction of the newer white building
have been added.

first yearbook printed 1948 / 1949 to the present year. The
last yearbook was on sale for $14.00.
Now for some good news.......We
were told to go ahead and plan for our Reunion 2012, so we have set
a date for May 19, 2012, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and will have it
